Although developers create games with certain features of the platform in mind, not everyone can buy an expensive VR helmet just to play one game the intended way. That's why different modifications will always be in demand. The developers of the NoVR mod for Half-Life: Alyx have released a major summer update. It can be downloaded for free from the ModDB website.

So, what did modders improve? Of course, the first-person view: Weapons now sway and move more realistically while walking and running. They also made numerous map adjustments: Changes were made to ensure players don’t get stuck on various objects and can move smoothly through the levels. Location boundaries have been corrected to prevent players from accidentally moving outside the intended gameplay areas.

Modders improved the aiming process, so now it is more precise. The game is now also more optimized for Steam Deck: The mod now runs better on Valve's portable gaming device, and it includes support for PS VR2. Finally, all puzzles can now be completed, and all Steam achievements can be obtained.

The creators of Half-Life: Alyx NoVR mentioned that they have put in a lot of work but plan to continue actively improving the mod. The add-on allows players to experience Valve's shooter without the need for a virtual reality headset.
