Jagex has quietly released RuneScape: Dragonwilds into Early Access, surprising fans with a stealth launch. Available now on Steam, the game expands the RuneScape universe into the cooperative survival action-RPG genre, blending traditional MMO elements with fresh mechanics.
Players are thrown into Ashenfall, a dragon-threatened land shrouded in ancient mysteries. The main mission? To challenge the fearsome Dragon Queen while unraveling the forgotten past and discovering the magical roots of transformation powers. The game features staples like leveling up, equipment crafting, spellcasting, and base construction.
A major dungeon and climactic dragon battle are also included in the Early Access version. Jagex detailed ambitious future updates, including additional biomes, quests, skills, creatures, and a gradually increasing level cap. Improvements to combat systems, tutorials, and weather effects are also on the roadmap.
Throughout Early Access, RuneScape: Dragonwilds will receive consistent content drops with new skills, seasonal content, and challenges. The final release is currently planned for early 2026, promising a deepened and polished experience upon full launch.
