During Gamescom 2024, Avowed game director Carrie Patel answered several questions about Obsidian Entertainment's upcoming RPG.

Avowed will feature a "double-digit number" of final slides. Players will be able to complete the game with various versions of these slides depending on the decisions they make. Patel stated that since Avowed is an Obsidian game, the ending will depend on numerous player actions and choices.

The developers are giving players a lot of freedom, including in gameplay, which will positively impact the replayability of Avowed. Players who wish to replay the RPG will have the opportunity to experience new things each time.

Avowed will be accessible to players unfamiliar with the Pillars of Eternity universe and the world of Eora. Dialogues will feature pop-up hints that provide details about different locations and characters without interrupting the conversation or distracting from it.

There are no crime or theft mechanics in Avowed. However, some dialogue options will allow players to steal items from characters, seemingly as part of the storyline. Killing all or most NPCs won't be possible, according to Patel. The developers intentionally chose not to allow this approach.

Avowed is set to release on February 18, 2025, on PC and Xbox Series X|S. The game will be available on Game Pass from day one.
