At the recent Future Games Show 2025, Redemption Road unveiled a brand-new gameplay trailer for their upcoming third-person shooter, Kingmakers. Developer Ian Fish also shared fresh insights during a brief interview, shedding light on the game’s mechanics and inspirations.

In Kingmakers, players will travel back in time from a distant future to focus on building bases, assembling their own armies, and altering the course of history. If desired, players can also personally participate in battles, utilizing modern technology to turn the tide in their favor.

Set against the backdrop of historical events, Kingmakers draws inspiration from the Welsh uprising led by Owain Glyndŵr. The presentation highlighted an unscripted destruction system, where objects crumble dynamically based on player actions. Other standout features include sprawling battlefields filled with thousands of soldiers, advanced pathfinding algorithms, army command mechanics, and fortification-building tools.

A significant focus was placed on the cooperative multiplayer mode, allowing players to experience a medieval campaign with modern weaponry. The seamless drop-in/drop-out feature ensures flexibility, enabling gamers to join or leave matches at any time without disrupting the flow.

The developers emphasized that the project is undergoing regular playtesting, incorporating player feedback to refine and enhance the experience. Although the initial Q1 2025 release target had to be pushed back, the team remains committed to launching Kingmakers in Q2 2025 after finalizing its development.
