Last year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was one of the most memorable announcements. Not because of its scale—nor is it tied to any well-known franchise—but because of its incredibly stylish and atmospheric presentation, along with an unusual premise.

Now, just a few months later, we're approaching the game's release, scheduled for April 24. While journalists are already sharing positive impressions, players are getting deeper into the game's setting through various trailers. At the Future Games Show, the developers unveiled a new trailer focused on Maelle, the youngest heroine of the game.

Maelle is a sixteen-year-old girl who struggles to trust people and communicate with them. She was orphaned at the age of three and was later taken in by Gustave, her adoptive brother. Unlike other members of the Expedition, Maelle sees this journey as an opportunity to escape the confines of Lumière and find her place in the world. In combat, she wields a fleuret, a French fencing rapier.

In a year filled with massive blockbuster releases (GTA 6, the new DOOM, Death Stranding 2), Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 might just turn out to be the hidden gem of 2025
