Studio Sandfall Interactive has released its debut project, inspired by classic JRPGs.
A day before the release, reviews were published, and critics were absolutely thrilled—praising almost everything: the graphics, combat system and customization, story and presentation, as well as the voice acting. One reviewer was so impressed that the hardest challenge for them was putting down the controller and saying goodbye to the game after the final credits. Many reviewers were amazed by how the development team managed to refresh the genre’s classic combat system, which has been around for decades.
The plot revolves around an expedition of heroes trying to stop a mysterious entity—the Paintress. Every year, she paints a specific number—the age at which people are literally erased from reality. And this number keeps getting smaller.
It all began 67 years ago, after which 32 expeditions attempted to reach Paintress’s island and stop her. All of them failed, and now it’s the turn of the next group—the characters players will take on this journey.
Expedition 33 has become Kepler Interactive's most successful Steam launch title to date, peaking at 29,310 concurrent players. The publisher's previous launch records were held by Pacific Drive (18,507), Scorn (7,949), and Sifu (3,189).
