Hangar 13 has unveiled the first teaser for Mafia: The Old Country — a new installment in the shooter series. According to the developers, the title will be a prequel to the previously released games, focusing on the rise of a criminal family in 1900s Sicily.

The teaser didn’t showcase any gameplay footage, but The Old Country already has a Steam page. The game is expected to release in 2025 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The developers have promised to reveal more details in December 2024.

The first installment of the Mafia series was released in 2002 under the subtitle The City of Lost Heaven and received a full remake 18 years later. The subsequent games in the franchise were released in 2010 and 2016, both of which were reissued alongside the original title.

This announcement was the final reveal at the Opening Night Live show — a move Geoff Keighley is fond of, and this time, many players were pleased with this closing highlight on the first day of Gamescom 2024.
