Reportedly, a leak about the next The Sims 4 expansion emerged before its announcement, and it might allow players to become landlords.
As spotted by TheHenfordHen on "X", retailer Instant Gaming (which has listed expansions before their release in the past) has listed a brand-new The Sims 4 expansion, presumably releasing in December 2023. Rumor has it that the expansion is called "For Rent" and, as you've probably guessed, it deals with rental properties.

Another user shared more detailed information about the potential new expansion. According to a post by anadius, the new expansion will allow characters to manage multiple rental properties or move into them as tenants. "From potlucks to evictions, there's a lot to do and a bustling new world to do it in", the leaked expansion's description reportedly reads.
There will be an option to build duplexes and the ability to house a sim in a basement. Property owners can choose to live separately or on-site with the tenants.
Since this is only a leak for now, don't take the information too seriously.
