In its financial report, EA announced that since the end of 2023, The Sims 4 has brought in 15 million new players. It may be considered a huge success, considering the game is ten years old.

The Sims 4, which launched in 2014, reached 20 million players within six years, after which EA transitioned it to a free-to-play model. By May 2024, the game’s player base had grown to 85 million. EA noted in the report that The Sims 4 performed better than expected over the last financial quarter. This success led the company to slightly raise its forecast for the full fiscal year.

Previously, EA indicated that they do not plan to release The Sims 5. The ongoing popularity of the fourth installment clarifies why the company has decided to continue its active support of this title. While this decision is totally reasonable, as the Sims 4 currently keeps its monopoly among life simulators, in the future it might be wrong, if InZOI from Krafton will be successful. However, it is currently only a potential threat, and right now The Sims 4 is doing super well.

On October 31, The Sims 4 will receive a major expansion, Life & Death, priced at $40.
