A new leak has revealed gameplay from Project Rene, an experimental project by Maxis set in The Sims universe. The footage showcases a multiplayer mode where different players control their Sims and interact within a shared space.
Image: youtube.comThe gameplay appears to have been recorded on a mobile platform, featuring some noticeable lag and AI-controlled Sims that remain idle. Some players speculate that the game is still in an early test phase, as many interactions seem limited.

For example, players can take on temporary jobs at local cafés, serving other Sims, or enjoy simple activities like eating ice cream. Character customization resembles the traditional The Sims experience, with options to modify appearance and clothing.
Sims still require their basic needs to be met, and if a player disconnects, their Sim remains in the world. It remains unclear whether the character transitions to AI control or stays inactive.
Despite Project Rene being known for some time and Maxis conducting frequent playtests, developers have yet to confirm their long-term vision for the project or whether it will ever see a full release.
