Koei Tecmo and Omega Force announced Dynasty Warriors: Origins at State of Play. Following tradition, an ancient warrior will take the lead role. Based on the trailer, the game's style remains faithful to previous entries. A chaotic slasher where the protagonist decimates half the planet's population with a single strike.

The trailer features familiar faces from past installments: Cao Cao, Lu Bu, Xu Shu, Guan Yu, Chen Chong, Cheng Pu, and Zhang Liao.

Dynasty Warriors is a renowned tactical action series with memorable characters and stories, though gameplay quality has fluctuated across entries. In addition to the Dynasty narratives, the franchise explores the Orochi and Samurai universes. While gameplay mechanics seldom deviate from the beaten path, the series maintains a dedicated fanbase. Fans anticipated Dynasty Warriors 10, but Origins emerged instead. It remains unclear whether Origins connects to the main continuity or presents a separate tale within the same world.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins launches in 2025 for PlayStation 5. A PC version has yet to be confirmed, though most entries remain console exclusives, tempering hopes for a port.
