Hints of a long-awaited feature have been discovered in Steam's code that could save PC gamers from eternal guesswork before making a purchase.
This is about a full-fledged performance prediction system — right in the store, users will be able to see approximate FPS based on their processor, graphics card, and RAM capacity.

Valve has long been paving the way for this automation through collecting anonymous statistics in SteamOS and the recent ability to attach hardware specifications to reviews. Now the company is ready to accumulate this massive data array to provide personalized predictions. If the system works at full capacity, the question 'will it run or won't it' will no longer arise before purchase.
Of course, implementing such a tool on Windows involves many nuances. Final framerate depends not only on hardware, but also on driver versions, background processes, and the use of upscalers like DLSS or FSR.
Valve will need to fine-tune the algorithms to keep predictions relevant.
