Nightdive Studios, known for revitalizing the System Shock franchise through previous releases—including the 2013 remaster of System Shock 2 and the remake of the first game—originally intended to launch this project alongside the System Shock remake. However, unforeseen delays in development reshuffled their schedule.
Their remake in 2023 was met with strong reception, earning a 78/100 Metacritic score, 7.6/10 from users, and an impressive 91% positive rating on Steam. With System Shock 2’s remaster now on the horizon, the wait is nearly over.
