Aggregators and digital platforms have formed ratings for Ubisoft's online shooter XDefiant. The game's average score on OpenCritic is 75 out of 100 based on seven reviews.

On Metacritic, the shooter received a score of 71 out of 100 based on the first four reviews. The user rating is 3.3 out of 10, but only 45 people have left their reviews.

The average rating of XDefiant in the PS Store is 3.7 out of 5 based on 17,000 reviews. In the American Xbox Store, the game has a rating of 3.1 out of 5 based on more than 4,000 ratings.

Journalists have written that fundamentally, XDefiant is an excellent shooter that is fun to play. However, authors noted that the game lacks truly original ideas that would distinguish it from competitors. One of the reviewers expressed hope that in future content updates, XDefiant will receive unique mechanics and that Ubisoft will continue to develop the game.

There is a common feeling that XDefiant has a bright future because the shooter does its job of entertaining players but Ubisoft needs to support the game. If this happens, the market for online shooters will gain, if not a "Call of Duty killer", at least another worthy contender.
