Formula 1 continues to seek a new audience. They host esports series, they launched its own F1 manager game and keep looking at the other media. After the success of the Netflix series "Drive to Survive," the queen of racing sensed the power of cinema and decided to appear on the movie screens. During the recent British GP, the series revealed a trailer for a movie called "F1".

The authors of "F1" decided to move with a safe plot. The movie will tell the story of former F1 driver Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt. The protagonist returns to Formula 1 to become a partner and mentor to young driver Joshua Pearce in the fictional team APXGP.

The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski ("Top Gun: Maverick", "Oblivion"). The racing series greatly invested in this project, and that alone raises the stakes dramatically. The racing series gave the title name to the movie, and the crew had a carte blanche. Some of the scenes were filmed during actual competition: for example, we saw Brad Pitt together with real drivers at official events.

If this project fails, it is impossible to think of another attempt in future. The worldwide release of the film is scheduled for June 25, 2025, so we will have to wait almost a year.
