Lawyers can spoil all the fun, and the bizarre story around the DMCA from the company owned by Michael Bay is another proof.
In July, director Michael Bay announced that he was in negotiations to create films and series based on the animated internet show "Skibidi Toilet." The show is created using the Source Filmmaker toolset and includes assets from Half-Life.
A week after the announcement, Garry's Mod creator Garry Newman reported on his Discord that the creators of "Skibidi Toilet" had issued a DMCA strike against him. According to a screenshot provided by Newman, the complaint was actually filed by Invisible Narratives, the film company led by Michael Bay.
According to the film studio's complaint, games based on "Skibidi Toilet" are being created in Garry's Mod without the rights holders' license and are generating significant revenue.
The creator of "Skibidi Toilet", Alexey Gerasimov, known as DaFuq!?Boom!, stated on Discord that he was not involved in the DMCA strike and asked how to contact Newman.
Luckily, the whole situation seems to be resolved by now. But can you imagine the lawsuit of the show created in the Source Filmmaker to Valve, who is the publisher for Garry's mod and also the creator of Source Filmmaker? While it could be the show, all's well that ends well.
