In October, Nintendo began accepting applications for testing an unknown feature for Switch Online. The testing is set to begin on October 23, and now more details have surfaced online — though the company had requested participants to keep them confidential.

Nintendo aims to test the limits of multiplayer functions and gameplay through a specific game, the name of which has not been revealed. Previously, the company warned that participants would need to download some software onto their Switch consoles.

The objective of the game is for the participants to fully "develop" a planet using provided resources. Players will be given a tool called a "Beacon" — when placed, it creates a zone around the beacon that cleanses the area, allowing players to interact with it. The higher the beacon is placed, the larger the zone, and the more possibilities players have for developing the area.

Players will not only be able to use the content they create but also share it with others. The description of the test does not make it entirely clear whether this game will eventually be released for the Switch or Nintendo's next console, or if it's just a build for testing online capabilities.

The test will run until November 5, with around ten thousand participants expected to take part.
