We really love long storylines in the gaming industry, don't we? One of the longest and most epic sagas is the development of Star Citizen, which has been ongoing for 12 years and has attracted an astounding amount of over $700 million.

Cloud Imperium Games is still hard at work on the MMO Star Citizen and the space adventure Squadron 42. However, the company recently parted ways with several high-ranking employees. This was reported by Tom Henderson, citing sources who wished to remain anonymous.

According to Henderson, at least three executives were let go, and several other key specialists were reassigned to different roles. In an internal letter, CIG boss Chris Roberts explained the reshuffling as an attempt to accelerate the production of the games.

However, some of the journalist's sources suggest that the company may have simply decided to cut costs. Additionally, there are rumors that Sandi Gardiner, Roberts' wife, may be returning to CIG. She left the team in 2019 but remained on the board of directors.

It's worth noting that at the end of November, Henderson reported that Cloud Imperium Games had laid off an unspecified number of employees, with the biggest impact hitting the quality control department.
