The Wall Street Journal has shared intriguing details about Kevin Feige's attitude toward MCU shows that began appearing on Disney+ in 2021.
Feige was initially opposed to producing numerous MCU series but ultimately agreed under pressure from executives and investors. This led to a situation in 2020-2021 where he was juggling so many projects that some employees wouldn't see him for weeks and had to literally chase him down studio hallways to get his feedback. In many cases, this input came too late, ultimately affecting the quality of the released content.
WSJ reports that during a recent meeting, Feige acknowledged the studio's issues, stating that watching each new MCU project had started feeling more like homework than entertainment for viewers.
The article notes that even Marvel employees frequently discuss MCU fatigue and worry they've created an "insiders' club", making it impossible for new viewers to understand the universe without watching dozens of films and shows.
Consequently, Disney leadership announced last year that Marvel would reduce its output of MCU shows on Disney+.
