This was reported by journalist Chris Gore. According to his sources, the corporation has been attempting to do this since 2024, and the negotiations are being conducted in secret.

However, Disney is not only trying to sell the famous franchise but the entire Lucasfilm company, which was purchased in 2012 for a whopping $4.05 billion. It turns out that while individual Star Wars films have been financially successful, bringing in decent revenue for the new owners, the franchise as a whole has yet to turn a profit.

Due to the completely unreasonable costs of producing various Star Wars content (much of which ended up being both a financial and reputational failure), Disney has failed to recoup even the money spent on the purchase over the past 12 years. And apparently, even merchandise sales aren’t helping.

The exact details of the deal are unknown, but according to the journalist's source, the main issue is that none of the potential buyers are interested in acquiring a troubled studio and a franchise that is far from its peak.

According to another blogger, Disney has even lowered the price to $3 billion. But even such a "discount" has failed to attract any interest.
