Sony Pictures has dropped a fresh trailer for 28 Years Later, continuing the grim legacy of the beloved horror franchise. Set three decades after the original outbreak, the film shows a United Kingdom still haunted by the Rage virus.
Communities have adapted, with one group surviving on an island accessible by a single, heavily protected road. Young Spike and his father Jamie leave the sanctuary in a desperate attempt to save Spike’s dying mother.
Helmed by Danny Boyle (known for Sunshine) and scripted by Alex Garland (writer of Civil War), the creative minds behind 28 Days Later return for this chilling new installment. The star-studded cast includes Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter series), Jodie Comer (Free Guy), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the Hunter), and Jack O’Connell (Unbroken).
28 Years Later is slated for a global theatrical release on June 20, 2025. It marks the start of a new trilogy, with the second film titled Bone Temple already in the works. Directed by Nia DaCosta (The Marvels, Candyman), it’s set to premiere on January 16, 2026.
