The battle with Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto marks a turning point in the story of not only Raiden, but all of Inazuma. As the immortal vessel created to preserve Ei’s will, the puppet had fulfilled its mission for years—to pursue Eternity. But when Ei decides that Inazuma must move forward, the puppet stands in opposition to its creator. This fight is an incredibly difficult trial for the Electro Archon, as she faces her most dangerous enemy yet—herself.
In this guide, you'll learn:
- How to unlock access to Magatsu Mitake and where to farm the boss afterward;
- What achievements are available for defeating the boss;
- A list of materials you’ll receive upon victory and their uses—including which characters need them for talent upgrades and ascension.
Tactical advice will help you win the fight, and the drop information will let you plan your character progression in advance.
How to Unlock and Where to Find the Boss
To unlock weekly access to the boss, you must complete the "Imperatrix Umbrosa" story questline. This can't be started right away—you'll need to unlock Raiden’s Story Quest, complete Part I, and unlock Part II. The quest that grants access to the Narukami fight is "Transient Dreams."
Later, to initiate the battle, you’ll need to find the boss domain called "End of the Oneiric Euthymia." There are four difficulty levels available for the "Guardian of Eternity" challenge.
Best Characters for the Boss Fight
The battle with the Guardian of Eternity consists of two phases that alternate. The boss also has two stances: "Musou Isshin" and "Engulfing Lightning". The fight begins in one of them, and they switch when the Shogun uses specific abilities.
To enter Phase Two, the boss must charge a special gauge called "Ominous Destiny". This bar fills automatically during combat and whenever Magatsu Mitake deals damage to the player.
If you’ve already completed the main Inazuma storyline, you probably remember the encounter with Raiden Ei. The battle with Narukami is similar but much harder. The boss deals very high damage, and some abilities can instantly kill your active character.
Certain Magatsu Mitake abilities drain energy from your characters. This means heroes who rely heavily on Elemental Bursts may struggle.
Based on the above, here are the kinds of characters you'll need:
- Healers and support units to withstand the heavy damage;
- Characters that don’t rely too much on Elemental Bursts will perform more consistently;
- Include at least one Electro character in your team—we’ll explain why below
Also, don’t forget about the boss’s resistance to certain damage types. Fortunately, this part is fairly straightforward. In Phase One, Raiden takes 10% less damage from all sources. In Phase Two, she takes 210% less. When in the "Stunned" state, the boss takes 50% more damage from all sources.
Sample Teams
Let’s go over some of the most effective teams for this boss battle.
Character 1 | Character 2 | Character 3 | Character 4 | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Raiden | Xingqiu | Xiangling | Bennett | While Raiden depends heavily on her Elemental Burst, she’s an exception. This ability helps recharge energy for teammates, and her Electro damage is highly effective against this boss. |
Hu Tao | Xingqiu | Fischl | Zhongli | Hu Tao can deal Pyro damage with her basic attacks, efficiently breaking the boss’s shield. Zhongli provides strong shielding, and Fischl helps deal with the Flowers of Remembrance. |
Varesa | Layla | Bennett | Xilonen | A current Natlan team using Varesa’s powerful damage supported by buffers for increased DPS and survivability. |
Yoimiya | Xingqiu | Zhongli | Dori | Yoimiya deals high single-target damage, amplified by Xingqiu and Dori’s support. |
Attacks and Abilities of Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto
As mentioned earlier, the fight begins in Phase One, when the boss is in a calm state.
Lightning Shield

When the player attacks Shogun in close combat, she applies a shield that absorbs any damage. After taking a certain amount of damage, the boss drops the shield and performs several quick attacks toward the player. To avoid problems with this ability, use ranged characters.
If, during Phase One, you manage to destroy the Magatsu Electroculus or the correct illusion (explained below), Magatsu Mitake will enter a "Stunned" state. While stunned, the boss takes more damage and does not attack the player. When the effect ends, Raiden releases an impulse that deals Electro damage around her.
Divine Storm

Deals Electro damage in a targeted area and switches to the "Musou Isshin" stance. Afterward, several lightning strikes are summoned that hit random points on the arena one by one.
Thunder Punishment

Deals Electro damage in front of her and switches to the "Engulfing Lightning" stance. Afterward, Eyes of Thunder Punishment appear on the arena, dealing Electro damage around them.
Musou Isshin Stance
Image: youtube.com
While in the "Musou Isshin" stance, Shogun uses several lightning-fast attacks that are similar to each other:
- Six quick strikes in front of her;
- A dash toward the player followed by a circular strike. Then another dash and another circular strike;
- A quick dash toward the player followed by a cross-shaped double strike in front of her.
In addition to basic attacks, she uses other abilities in this stance.
Inevitable

She consecutively fires three discs and an energy wave toward the player. Each of the projectiles deals Electro damage. The discs move significantly faster than the following wave.
When Lightning Strikes... It Casts a Shadow

Shogun splits into four illusions that appear at the edges of the arena, firing energy waves in the player's direction, dealing Electro damage. One of the copies releases a special "X"-shaped projectile. If you destroy any of the clones three times, you will eliminate it, but there is an important detail:
Destroying the illusion that fired the special projectile will instantly interrupt this ability, and the boss will enter the "Stunned" state. However, if you accidentally destroy a regular illusion, an explosion occurs, dealing Electro damage to the player.
Musou no Hitotachi

Shogun pushes the player away and summons massive Electro spheres that deal damage almost throughout the entire arena. After the explosions, puddles remain, which also deal Electro damage. After this, the boss immediately attacks all players around her, dealing Electro damage and immobilizing them.
Although this ability looks very intimidating, it is possible to avoid. Simply move to the edge of the arena and wait out the storm.
Engulfing Lightning Stance

While in the "Engulfing Lightning" stance, Shogun performs several lightning-fast attacks that are similar to each other:
- Three consecutive spear swings in front of her. Each hit deals Electro damage, and after the third swing, an explosion occurs, dealing high Electro damage around the boss. Sometimes, after this move, an Electro disc is released toward the player if they are far enough away;
- After a brief preparation, she performs a quick dash toward the player and delivers several strikes.
In addition to basic attacks, Narukami uses other abilities in this stance.
Eye of the Storm
Spins her spear and triggers a powerful explosion around herself.
Magatsu Electroculus

The Magatsu Electroculus appears at the center of the arena, and it must be destroyed quickly. If successful, the boss enters a "Stunned" state. If you fail to destroy the Electroculus in time, it will explode.

Sometimes Raiden uses an enhanced version of this ability. In this case, three Electroculi are summoned, covering the entire arena. Destroying at least one of them will create a safe zone for you.
Baleful Shadowlord

Now we move to the most interesting part—Phase Two, which begins when Raiden fills the "Ominous Destiny" gauge. In the Baleful Shadowlord form, the boss gains access to more powerful abilities and applies an improved "Lightning Shield", which gradually weakens.
During this phase, your characters will constantly lose energy. Once the "Lightning Shield" effect ends, the boss returns to Phase One, briefly enters a "Stunned" state, and your characters fully restore their energy.
Heavenly Punishment Narukami
Image: youtube.com
Performs two horizontal blade swings in front of her. Afterward, she releases a spear toward the player, which strikes the ground and detonates after a few seconds, dealing area-of-effect Electro damage.
This ability has an alternative version that Shogun uses only when the player is behind her. In this case, there will be only one blade strike, but instead of the second, a lightning strike hits the ground.
Exemplary Execution
Image: youtube.com
Raises her blade above her head and forcefully strikes the arena in front of her, dealing massive area Electro damage.
Approaching Eternity
Image: youtube.com
An enhanced version of the "Inevitable" ability. She releases five vertical blades in front of her, followed by a horizontal energy wave. Each projectile deals high Electro damage to the player. The vertical blades move much faster than the energy wave.
Perish!
Image: youtube.com
After a brief preparation, she performs a slashing strike with her blade in front of her, dealing high Electro damage. If the player is too far away, she dashes toward them and delivers a barrage of strikes in front of her.
Thunderous Palm
Image: youtube.com
Summons a pair of hands that circle around the player for a few seconds before closing in. The ability deals high Electro damage.
Approaching Storm
Image: youtube.com
Releases a shadow that follows the player, dealing Electro damage every second. After a few seconds, the shadow transforms into a hand that strikes the ground.
Baleful Vajra's Destructive Waves
Image: youtube.com
Summons three totems at the center of the arena, dealing area Electro damage. The totems cannot be destroyed and remain on the battlefield for some time, periodically releasing waves of energy. To avoid taking damage, you can jump over the waves or use a dash.
The Final Calamity
Image: youtube.com
The boss’s most powerful ability. Raiden covers herself with enormous palms and disappears from the battlefield, after which several Flowers of Remembrance appear on the arena. If the player attacks the Flowers using elemental reactions, they will charge up. Electro element charges them significantly more effectively.
Once a Flower is fully charged, a sphere appears in its place, which the player can enter and use as protection against what will happen next.
If any player remains unprotected, Shogun marks them with the Eye of Thunderous Punishment and performs a powerful blade attack. This ability incapacitates all players and, after a short delay, instantly kills the marked character.

It is said that this ability can crack your screen (though this is unconfirmed).
General Tips
It’s hard to say which mechanic is key to successfully defeating the boss, as even your positioning will play a role depending on the phase.
For example, during the first phase, it’s better to keep your distance from Narukami to avoid triggering the shield. But in the second phase, on the contrary, stand as close as possible, as otherwise, you risk facing powerful long-range abilities.
Here are some more helpful tips that will assist you:
- Although the "Lightning Shield" will eventually disappear on its own in the second phase, it’s still better not to wait for it to do so without your help. Use Pyro and Cryo elements to speed up the process;
- If the boss uses "The Final Calamity", immediately start attacking the Flowers of Remembrance to avoid dying. Electro-damage characters will be especially helpful;
- Raiden is highly mobile. Characters whose damage is tied to specific areas will be less effective;
- The boss's phases alternate one after the other. It’s best to save elemental explosions for when Magatsu Mitake is stunned after transitioning from the second phase and finish it off. Otherwise, the cycle will start again;
- Use Insulation Potion to reduce the damage the boss deals to your team.
