So, the Focus Mode is one of the new features in Monster Hunter Wilds. Personally, I think it’s a very convenient addition that many players are sure to appreciate. Let’s take a closer look at what it is and how to use it in combat.
What Is This Feature?

Focus helps you wound a monster and then repeatedly strike those wounds to weaken the creature faster, ultimately leading to its defeat. I especially enjoy using this feature with the bow, as it locks onto all available wounds and ensures precise hits.
During this mode, a reticle will appear in the center of the screen, indicating the direction of your attacks and defenses.
How to Use Focus?

It’s quite simple—you just need to know which keys or buttons to press. If you’re playing on PC, you’ll need to press the side button on your mouse (for melee combat) or press Alt (if your character wields a ranged weapon).
If this doesn’t feel comfortable, you can always remap the keys in the settings.
For controller users, you can hold down the L2 button on PlayStation or the LT button on Xbox to activate Focus.

If the monster has wounds, it’s always best to use this mode for greater combat efficiency.
Why else is this useful? You can obtain certain materials from the monster if you consistently strike its wounds accurately. This is a definite advantage, as crafting plays a huge role in the game.
What Other Features Does This Function Have?
Beyond its obvious effectiveness, there are some visual cues to help identify wound locations—they start glowing red.

You can also adjust the camera mid-attack to fine-tune your strikes against the monster.
We’ve covered how to activate the Focus function and the advantages it provides to the player. Using this mode is crucial, as it will help the hunter survive.
