In the latest installment of the famous Monster Hunter series, there’s a unique feature that allows you to carry two weapons at once, adding dynamism and interest to the gameplay. Moreover, this makes it easier for players to fight the most dangerous monsters.

First, you need to decide which weapon you plan to use for most of the battle. There are 14 types to choose from, and they’re all diverse—ranging from standard daggers to a so-called musical instrument capable of killing with music.

Next, think about your second weapon. I recommend combining a ranged weapon with a melee one. This is ideal because some monsters are best approached up close to deliver a crushing blow. Personally, I’ve been using daggers and a bow for now.

To equip an additional weapon, the player needs to approach the forge and select the corresponding option, as shown in the image below.

Great! Now you have another tool in your arsenal for intense battles with monsters. But how do you switch to it? You can’t just press a single button to magically swap the special sheaths on your back. For this, you need to call your Seikret.

Normally, the pet is summoned by pressing Tab, but in this case, you need to press the X button. This will make the riding bird pick up your character, allowing you to switch weapons immediately. Simply press X.

If you instinctively press Tab out of habit, the weapon won’t switch, and you’ll have to press X afterward. Admittedly, this isn’t very convenient.

I can’t say I’m a huge fan of this system, as it would be more convenient to switch weapons during battles without involving the riding bird. But there’s nothing we can do about it—we’ll just have to get used to it.

In this article, we’ve covered how to switch from your main weapon to an additional one in Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s very simple to do, albeit a bit strange. In any case, you’ll get used to it quickly.
