One fine day, specifically on February 28, 2025, Capcom released a game called Monster Hunter Wilds, which captured the hearts of millions of players. This is evidenced by the online metrics shown in the screenshot below.

I myself am thrilled with this title: the graphics, epic battles with various monsters, beautiful and delicious food, stunning gear and weapons, and again, delicious food… Wait, I got a bit sidetracked. In this article, I will briefly talk about the game and its system requirements.
What is the project about?

If we talk about the story… it’s better not to, because it’s clichéd, boring, and uninteresting. However, people clearly don’t play MH for the story. Nevertheless, the protagonist can finally speak, but is it worth it? I don’t even know, because I got the impression that the dialogues were written by an AI. And we’ll have to live with that for a full 6 in-game chapters.

But as I said, players value this game series not for the story (which here mainly serves as a tutorial), but for the intense, lengthy, yet thrilling battles with monsters. And there are plenty of them, all unique.
So, the protagonist (who can be either male or female) must explore uncharted lands as part of an expedition. The reason for the expedition is a child named Nata, found in the desert. These lands were considered uninhabited, but the appearance of the boy suggests otherwise.
He is the sole survivor of a tribe attacked by a mysterious creature nicknamed the "White Ghost."
The attempt to present the events as a drama only adds absurdity. The locals, who over the years of their existence have failed to invent weapons, are equally baffled by the fact that our hero uses them.

Overall, the story has become more structured and cohesive, with more details about the world, and the narrative delivery has been refined. However, it still can’t be called a full-fledged story-driven game.
Moreover, Wilds often limits player freedom, forcing them to follow a strict script. By the tenth hour of gameplay, the linearity of the narrative can feel exhausting.

The campaign takes about 15–20 hours to complete. For those who came to the game for freedom and hunting, the story will feel more like an obstacle than a motivation. The good news is that most dialogues and cutscenes can be skipped. I really dislike listening to all these dialogues, so for me, this is a definite plus.

As for the hunting itself, it has become simpler. When you hit a monster, wounds appear on its body. Hold the right buttons, and you’ll destroy the wound, dealing massive damage and causing a part of the monster to drop. These parts are now automatically collected, which is quite convenient, and the developers deserve praise for this. A simplification that works in the game’s favor.
There are also new rideable pets. Seikret automatically runs at maximum speed toward your hunting target or any point on the map. The developers, in their quest to simplify the game, went so far that if you’re knocked down, you can call your Seikret, and it will pick you up almost instantly, saving you from lengthy recovery animations and avoiding devastating blows.
For me, this is a lifesaver, as there have been many situations where my HP was at its lowest. The rideable pet would pick me up in time, carry me away, where I could switch weapons and drink a potion. Yes, it’s a simplification, but I personally don’t consider this aspect to be a bad thing.

I also like the concept that Seikret automatically takes you to your destination, so you don’t have to constantly open and close the map to check if you’re going the right way.
By the way, you can also reach the camp using fast travel, which the game kindly suggests when you hover the cursor over the tent icon.

What else do you need to know? Oh yes, you won’t see health bars for monsters here, just like in previous installments. Instead, you need to read the enemy’s movements, animations, and sounds to gauge how much damage they’ve taken. However, in Wilds, things are a bit different: your fluffy companion will outright announce the monster’s various states.
Monsters have also learned new tactics. They now use the environment more often in battles, crawling into floor crevices or climbing onto ledges. Though this mostly applies to new species. Some creatures can form packs, creating situations where you have to fight multiple enemies at once.
But even in such situations, there’s no need to panic, because you can always call for backup—either live players or NPCs who will help you take down the monster, even in solo mode. It’s more fun and faster together.

If you find the game lacking in challenge, you can always install mods.
