The new Dota 2 season is gradually kicking off, and several teams now have a prime opportunity to earn points that could eventually secure them an invitation to The International. The newly introduced BLAST Slam I series features an intriguing tournament format.
Veteran Dota 2 fans may recall the Gauntlet Race format, which was especially popular in China. In this system, no teams are eliminated after the group stage. However, in the Single Elimination Playoffs, teams that finish last face significantly more difficult paths, incentivizing strong performances during the group phase as well.
In Copenhagen, two teams stood head and shoulders above the rest: BB Team and Tundra Esports. They met in the Grand Final, where BB Team emerged victorious with a 3:1 scoreline. This marks the team's first major trophy in its history. For a long time, the superstar stack from Eastern Europe struggled to convert potential into wins. However, following the departure of TORONTOTOKYO and Nightfall, the puzzle pieces may finally be falling into place.
The next major Dota 2 tournament is ESL One Bangkok, set to begin on December 7.
