The Counter-Strike tournament of the Esports World Cup has a quite strange format. There are only fifteen participants, not sixteen and that might lead to some confusion.

Fourteen teams will start in the Opening Stage where they play one match. The winners go straight to the playoffs while the losers join JieJieHao and will have to run a huge elimination round with only one winner. The playoffs will go traditionally: single elimination, first to two.

The first round matchups mostly have clear favourites but that doesn't mean there are no interesting matchups. The most intriguing game will be G2 Esports - The MongolZ. The former recently went into rebuild and this will be a premiere of a new roster. The latter became the most successful Asian team, reaching its peak right before the player break.

The second most interesting match is Complexity - Virtus.pro. This is estimated purely on the skill level of both teams as neither of teams outclasses their opponent.

The Counter-Strike tournament will start on July 17; the prize pool is one million dollars.
