Recently, the professional Counter-Strike 2 scene has been buzzing with some major rumors — ones that are likely to come true around the time of the Austin Major. The speculation centers around two teams: G2 Esports and Team Falcons.
Less than two years ago, G2 Esports secured massive victories at two of the biggest IEM events of 2023 — Katowice and Cologne. Despite HooXi's underwhelming individual performances, the team had chemistry and promise.

In summer 2024, G2 swapped out their IGL, and by early 2025, the organization lost its superstar NiKo. G2 chose to build around m0NESY, but their rough start to the year reportedly led one of the world’s top AWPers to reconsider his future with the team.
According to rumors, m0NESY is set to transfer to Team Falcons, with the transfer fee allegedly sitting around $2.5 million — though the sources on that figure are not the most reliable. In his place, G2 reportedly plans to sign hades from Monte as their new AWPer. If all of this goes through, G2 will be facing a major rebuild. The team will have lost two of its brightest stars and, while they’ll be walking away with a couple of heavy bags of cash, they’ll essentially be starting from scratch. malbsMd might be a solid foundation to build upon, but everything else is up in the air.

As for Team Falcons, their management is seemingly hell-bent on building a championship roster at any cost. In addition to m0NESY, fresh rumors suggest they’re also targeting Kyousuke — a promising young talent from the Team Spirit academy, who’s already being compared to donk, the breakout phenom of 2024. For context, Kyousuke’s transfer value is reportedly already in the seven-figure range. According to insiders, Kyousuke will be replacing TeSeS in the Falcons’ starting five.
A trio of Kyousuke, NiKo, and m0NESY is absolutely lethal — a team that could realistically contend for titles at the highest level. And the big question it raises is: can you buy success? Because if all these moves go through, the Falcons' management will have spent upwards of $10 million, and anything short of results on the biggest stages will be a massive failure.
