While most professional Counter-Strike players are still enjoying their holiday break, some prefer to stay in shape, even if it’s through less formal yet still competitive events.
Streamer Evelone organized a $200,000 duos tournament featuring a mix of streamers and professional players. Among the participants were s1mple, rain, broky, YEKINDAR, and Ultimate, but the spotlight was firmly on the duo of donk and m0NESY.
The two Russian players had a phenomenal 2024 and are widely considered to be among the top three players in the world (the other contender being ZywOo). Pairing the world’s best rifler (donk) with possibly the best sniper in the game (m0NESY) created an unstoppable force.
The duo didn’t drop a single match throughout the tournament. In the grand finals, they faced kyosuke and baz, two promising talents from Team Spirit Academy. Notably, kyosuke is one to watch closely—he has the potential to follow donk’s path to the top of the Counter-Strike scene.
For their dominance, donk and m0NESY split $120,000, while kyosuke and baz took home $60,000. Rounding out the top three were Jame and xiELO, earning $20,000 in prize money.
