In July, Respawn announced that with the start of the 22nd season, the Apex Legends battle pass would undergo significant changes. Now, each season will feature two battle passes, each costing $10. These passes can only be purchased directly with money, not with a separate in-game currency as before. In addition to the standard level, there will be a premium version of the pass for $20—bringing the total to $40 for a full season.

Players criticized the decision because Apex Legends will no longer offer the option to buy the pass with the in-game currency that could be accumulated from previous battle passes. What is the rare option for them to be heard? Good old review bombing.  As a result, the game's reviews on Steam over the past 30 days have dropped to overwhelmingly negative, based on 34,000 reviews. Only 17% of them are positive.

Despite this, the shooter's online presence on Steam remains high, exceeding 200,000 daily players. A decline of several tens of thousands was observed back in June, and according to the charts, the news about the battle pass has not accelerated this decline.

EA and Respawn have yet to respond to the criticism, but they still have time. The 22nd season is set to start on August 6, leaving three weeks until then.
