The lead developer behind Assassin's Creed Shadows has clarified that players won’t lose out on significant content by focusing on a single protagonist.
In Assassin's Creed Shadows, gamers will have the option to play as one of two protagonists: a female shinobi named Naoe and a historical African samurai, Yasuke, whose inclusion has sparked considerable debate even before the game’s official launch.
Some fans expressed concerns that prioritizing one character over the other might result in missing out on key story elements or gameplay experiences.
Jonathan Dumont, the creative director of Assassin's Creed Shadows, addressed these worries, sharing his own balanced playstyle:
"I tend to switch between characters fairly evenly. For example, I might spend 3-5 hours with one protagonist, then switch and play another 2-3 hours with the second."
However, Dumont emphasized that players won’t be at a major disadvantage if they lean toward one character. He explained that while each protagonist has their own exclusive opening sequences and personal story arcs, the game is designed to adapt to the player’s choice. He encouraged fans to follow their preferences:
"I don’t believe you’ll miss out on a lot. It really comes down to your personal playstyle. You might think, 'Alright, I’ll see how the game adjusts based on which character I pick.' Each hero has their own unique introductions and dedicated questlines, but the core experience is flexible. You can choose your favorite, and the narrative will adapt accordingly."
