Blizzard has released the launch gameplay trailer for Vessel of Hatred, the first story expansion for Diablo IV. In the trailer, the developers showcased the key additions that will come with the expansion.

In Vessel of Hatred, the creators of Diablo IV will introduce the Spiritborn class, which will make its debut in the Diablo series. The expansion's events will unfold in the ancient jungles of the Nahantu region, where players will go in search of Neyrelle to uncover Mephisto's plan.

Among other features, Vessel of Hatred will include a dark citadel — a dungeon with challenging trials designed for group play. Additionally, Diablo IV will introduce a mercenary recruitment system, with mercenaries possessing unique abilities.

Ahead of the Vessel of Hatred release, the base game will receive a major 2.0 update. This update will increase the maximum character level to 60, revamp the difficulty and enhancement systems, and introduce rune word mechanics.

Vessel of Hatred will be released on October 8, 2024, with the standard edition priced at $40.
