Big Bad Wolf, the studio behind acclaimed titles like Vampire: The Masquerade Swansong and The Council has announced their latest project: Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss The announcement came with an impressive CG trailer that introduces players to Noah, the protagonist grappling with encroaching madness, the submerged city of R'lyeh, and the iconic Great Old One, Cthulhu.
Set in 2053, the story unfolds as corporations mining the oceanâs depths awaken an ancient cosmic horror. Players will step into the shoes of Noah, an agent of Interpolâs secret Occult Affairs division, tasked with investigating the mysterious disappearance of miners in the Pacific Ocean. With the help of an AI companion named Key, players will unravel the secrets of the sunken city of Râlyeh, solve intricate puzzles, and fight to maintain their sanity under Cthulhuâs maddening influence.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game promises surreal, reality-bending environments that immerse players in its haunting atmosphere. The trailer is already available, teasing a tense and thrilling experience. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is set to release in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
