The creators of Path of Exile 2 have unveiled Dawn of the Hunt, the game’s first major update during its early access phase. This eagerly anticipated expansion brings a cascade of new features, including a fresh class, five Ascendancy classes, and extensive overhauls to character progression and endgame systems.

At the heart of the update lies the Huntress, an exile wielding a spear who draws strength from the elements and commands loyal animal companions. Whether engaging enemies in close quarters or unleashing ranged attacks, the Huntress excels in both roles. With 22 new skills, she offers players a diverse array of playstyles. Her first Ascendancy class, the Ritualist, specializes in dark rituals, such as sacrificing animals to empower devastating abilities like Corrupted Life Force , which inflicts chaotic afflictions on foes.

Other classes also gain new Ascendancy paths:

  • Lich (Witch) : Masters immortality by tearing apart their soul, embracing chaos and destruction.
  • Smith of Kitava (Warrior) : Crafts weapons of ruin through fire and torment, embodying destruction.
  • Tactician (Mercenary) : Wields military-grade tactics, orchestrating brutal strategies on the battlefield.

Two new skills have been introduced, alongside a complete overhaul of character progression systems. Over 100 new support gems enhance build diversity, giving players even more creative freedom.

The endgame has undergone significant upgrades, featuring over 100 unique items, 20+ runes with multi-level scaling, and rebalanced towers that are fewer in number but far deadlier. Eight new maps, four unique armor chests, and additional essences expand late-game exploration.

A new challenge awaits players in the form of Rogue Exiles , formidable NPCs armed with skills and items mirroring those of the player’s character. These encounters test players’ adaptability and strategic prowess, ensuring no two battles feel the same.

The Dawn of the Hunt update launches on April 4, 2025, bringing a wave of exciting additions to Path of Exile 2.
