Bungie has announced The Edge of Fate, a major new DLC for Destiny 2 launching on July 15. This expansion marks the beginning of the “Saga of Fate,” introducing a fresh narrative arc centered on the mysterious Nine—enigmatic entities deeply connected to dark matter and the planets of our Solar System.

A standout feature of this expansion is the new explorable area: Kepler, a planetoid trapped in a singularity. Designed with metroidvania influences, Kepler will challenge players with vertical traversal, interconnected zones, and secret-laden paths. One of the most notable additions is a new player ability that transforms Guardians into a mass of energy, enabling unconventional movement and combat tactics.

The DLC will also bring “world tiers,” adding progressively harder difficulty levels filled with rare loot and new enemy types. These layers aim to test seasoned players while offering meaningful rewards.

As a precursor to the expansion, Bungie has released a free prologue titled Rite of the Nine, which includes three new dungeons. On launch day, players can expect upgraded gear systems, revamped armor and weapon mechanics, and a dedicated single-player playlist.

A second DLC, Renegate, is already scheduled for December 2 and is teased to evoke the spirit of Star Wars. More details on that will be revealed in September.
