At Gamescom 2024, Peter Molyneux presented Masters of Albion, a game belonging to the "god simulation" genre. The game's main feature is the ability to switch from a strategic view to controlling an individual character. Masters of Albion builds on the ideas of Black & White, Molyneux's previous game in the same genre.

In strategic mode, the player will have many options available; for example, they can decide what the inhabitants of their settlement will eat. During the day, players can explore the world and develop their city, but at night, the settlement will need to be defended from monsters such as trolls, zombies, werewolves, and other threats.

The settlement will be managed using an on-screen hand, a mechanic carried over from Black & White, but expanded in Masters of Albion. The user will be able to take control of any inhabitant of their settlement, including animals. Each character will have their own skills, armor, and weapons.

The game world is hidden behind fog, so new territory will first need to be scouted with a hero before it can be developed. Molyneux wants the RPG mode to be a significant and well-developed part of the game, so the developers plan to introduce visual changes to characters based on the decisions made.

A team of 20 people is working on the game, including former colleagues of Molyneux from Bullfrog and Lionhead. Molyneux does not rule out the possibility that Masters of Albion might first be released in early access or closed beta testing. He understands that even in such a case, the quality of the game must be top-notch, as not all users fully trust the designer. Right now, we don't have any set dates.
