Arguably, the main game of the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 was Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. It started with a trailer and then continued into a special 25-minute Direct stream. The date is October 25, the platforms are PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. This is the first title of the series to be released on Xbox Game Pass together with other platforms.

The game is set in the early 1990s. The spy-thriller-style plot revolves around traitors infiltrating the US government and a team of operatives trying to hunt them down. Characters such as Russell Adler and Frank Woods from previous installments will return. 

The developers stated that missions can be completed in various ways. They have updated the movement mechanics, added puzzles, and included the ability to make story-impacting decisions. The multiplayer will feature 12 maps for 6v6 battles and four maps for 2v2 fights. Additionally, the "Zombies" mode will return to the franchise, featuring rounds where players must fend off hordes of undead.

An internet connection will be necessary for multiplayer mode, cooperative zombie mode, and even for playing the single-player campaign, as the game will use texture streaming.
