As expected, the game's online player count surged even higher over the weekend, breaking Odyssey's record to become the most popular installment in terms of peak concurrent Steam players โ€“ 64,825.

Moreover, Assassin's Creed Shadows has topped the UK physical sales charts. According to analytics firm GfK, it outperformed even Monster Hunter Wilds, securing the biggest retail launch in Britain this year.

In its first week, Shadows sold better than Star Wars Outlaws has in the past three months. That said, its launch still fell short of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which remains one of the franchise's most successful entries โ€“ having even surpassed Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in its time.

Meanwhile, Shadows has already surpassed 2 million unique players lifetime.

Following such a record-breaking launch, the Shadows development team expressed their gratitude to fans for their overwhelming support on the Assassin's Creed subreddit. The developers shared how deeply inspired they've been by players' comments, theories, and congratulatory messages. They emphasized that for Shadows, this is merely the beginning, and promised the game would continue evolving in close collaboration with the community.ย
