Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida recently shared his thoughts on Nintendo's Switch 2 presentation, describing it as "disappointing" until the reveal of a new project from FromSoftware — The Duskbloods . Known for his admiration of Nintendo, Yoshida expressed that he had hoped for more announcements of original games rather than the heavy focus on remakes and ports that dominated much of the showcase.
When evaluating the presentation overall, Yoshida gave it a 6 out of 10. However, the announcement of The Duskbloods lifted his rating to a 7. Among the positives, he highlighted the innovative camera accessory for Switch 2, engaging gameplay mechanics, and the GameChat feature, which allows players to watch others' gameplay sessions.
Regarding the console’s pricing, Yoshida voiced surprise at Nintendo’s strategy outside Japan. He found the U.S. price point higher than expected, likely due to inflation and rising market costs. In contrast, the Japanese price of 50,000 yen (approximately $340) struck him as "incredibly affordable." Jokingly, Yoshida suggested that anyone interested in purchasing the Switch 2 should do so in Japan.
While Yoshida acknowledged some bright spots in the presentation, his comments reflect a mix of tempered expectations and cautious optimism for the future of Nintendo’s latest console.
