FromSoftware's head, Hidetaka Miyazaki, believes that significantly reducing the difficulty of Elden Ring would negatively impact the game. According to the game designer, the intense battles provide the essential sense of satisfaction from victory that fans of action RPGs cherish. Miyazaki shared this in an interview with The Guardian.

Miyazaki noted that Elden Ring became more accessible to a broader audience without deliberately reducing the difficulty. Thanks to the open world, players have more freedom to choose where to go next and whom to fight. Additionally, Elden Ring includes many features to ease battles without compromising the overall challenge of the game.

In the interview, Miyazaki mentioned that despite his role as president of FromSoftware, he still dedicates 95% of his time to games. According to the game designer, sitting in an office all day is "not his style." Therefore, he works on games every day and helps other game directors at FromSoftware develop, who will become the company's future leaders.

Previously, Miyazaki had already indicated that he would not be the game director for some of FromSoftware's upcoming titles, with other talented specialists from the studio stepping into those roles. Nevertheless, he continues to oversee all the company's projects.
