FromSoftware made waves with the surprise announcement of The Duskbloods, a PvEvP (Player vs. Environment vs. Player) title set to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. This ambitious project introduces players to the Bloodsworn, a group of warriors imbued with extraordinary powers due to their unique bloodline, as they battle for the coveted First Blood amidst the backdrop of humanity's end.
In a recent interview, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki shed light on the game’s diverse cast of characters. According to Miyazaki, the decision to focus on the Bloodsworn was driven by their superhuman capabilities, which elevate gameplay beyond what fans have seen in previous FromSoftware titles. Every action—be it running, double-jumping, or dashing—is designed to feel more dynamic and visually spectacular. These movements are further enhanced by each character’s distinct arsenal of weapons and special abilities, ensuring a fresh and engaging experience.
Adding to the depth of gameplay, all characters come equipped with ranged attacks, some utilizing firearms alongside melee combat. Matches will host up to eight players, but players will have access to a roster of over 12 unique characters, each with their own appearance, fighting style, and weapon set. Miyazaki emphasized that the design philosophy prioritizes variety, giving players plenty of options to discover their favorites. Additionally, partial customization will allow players to tailor their chosen character to better suit their playstyle.
Set in a world teetering on the brink of destruction, The Duskbloods promises to deliver the intricate storytelling and challenging gameplay that FromSoftware is known for, while introducing new mechanics tailored for competitive multiplayer. The game’s release in 2026 will mark a significant milestone for Nintendo Switch 2, which is shaping up to be a hub for innovative gaming experiences.
Before The Duskbloods arrives, FromSoftware will treat Switch 2 players to Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, an enhanced version of the critically acclaimed title. This edition will include the base game, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and a selection of new items, offering fans both old and new a chance to dive back into the Lands Between.
