April 1st - April Fools' Day - holds special significance in the gaming industry. Every year, developers release joke announcements of two kinds: some present wild ideas that never come to fruition, while others turn out to be real. And every year, players are left guessing whether they're being pranked or if the developers are actually serious about implementing a particular idea.

This year, HoYoverse joined the tradition for the first time with an intriguing teaser. It showcases the opening sequence of "Starlight Knight", a Super Sentai-style series famous in the Zenless Zone Zero universe. The robot Billy is obsessed with this show, collecting various themed merchandise. The 30-second looped teaser focuses on the Red Knight before revealing Billy and his friends attempting to film their own version of the opening—complete with their take on the character's signature pose.

All these parallels (including Billy's red outfit matching the Knight's) hint at one of two possibilities: either an alternate costume for Billy is coming (similar to what Nicole, Ellen, and Astra received), or an S-rank Billy variant is in development (like the recent S-rank Anby).

Or... this could just be another April Fools' prank from the developers.
