Exactly one year has passed since the release of Wuthering Waves, and Kuro Games once again finds itself at the center of controversy—this time due to the disastrous organization of its anniversary event. Despite impressive progress following its rocky launch, Update 2.3 and its accompanying announcement stream sparked widespread outrage in the community. Players overwhelmingly expressed dissatisfaction with the meager rewards, lackluster content, and overall disorganization of the presentation.
In an emergency statement published just hours after the stream, the developers publicly acknowledged their mistakes. As Kuro Games representatives explained, the focus during preparation was on creating a "light and entertaining" format, but this ultimately led to audience disappointment. They specifically addressed issues with the presentation itself—the stream came across as chaotic and failed to engage viewers.
As a goodwill gesture, all players received 30 additional banner pulls (10 of each type—Radiant Tide, Forging Tide, and Lustrous Tide). However, this measure only poured fuel on the fire: many fans criticized the compensation as token, pointing to its lack of substance. The main complaints revolve around the absence of guaranteed rewards, excessive focus on monetization, and systemic issues with in-game event balance.
Meanwhile, the studio has already announced a major summer update intended to rectify the situation. The developers have promised to rethink their approach to event organization, add more unique content, and significantly improve the reward system—all to rebuild community trust and ensure the project's long-term growth.
