Following the State of Play broadcast, the official PlayStation blog unveiled the first details about the upcoming action game Monster Hunter: Wilds. For the first time in the series, players will be able to hear the voice of the main character during dialogues — the player character will receive voice acting.

The trailer showcased small monsters attacking each other and even larger creatures within their pack. Many players have been eagerly awaiting these smaller creatures, hopeful that a hatchery may be introduced at the base. However, this remains mere speculation.

The game will feature 14 weapon types familiar to Monster Hunter fans: bows, swords and shields, hammers, lances, and more. In addition to regular attacks, a "focus" ability will be available — a new mechanic that will aid in precise targeting and more effective defense and offense. The gameplay still emphasizes weather effects and environmental features, with players able to witness dust storms and quicksand.

Players will also receive a rideable mount resembling a chocobo from the Final Fantasy series. Referred to as a "seikret" in the blog, this mount can carry additional weapons and allows players to switch between different equipment loadouts outside of the base.

Monster Hunter: Wilds is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. More details will be unveiled at the Summer Game Fest event.
