Netflix has officially joined forces with the creators of Sifu to bring its gripping narrative to the big screen. Initially announced in 2022, the film adaptation was being developed by Story Kitchen alongside Sloclap, the game’s developer. However, according to Deadline, the production team has expanded significantly.

While Derek Kolstad, who previously worked on adapting Sifu 's story, may still be involved, his current status within the project remains unclear.

Adding to the star-studded lineup, Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick series, and his production company 87Eleven Entertainment will serve as executive producers. Notably, Stahelski is also working on another high-profile video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima .

Released in 2022, Sifu quickly became a hit, selling over one million copies within its first three weeks. The game follows a young martial artist seeking vengeance for their master's murder. Armed with a mystical pendant that resurrects them after death—at the cost of aging them several years—the protagonist embarks on a harrowing journey through a world of danger and intrigue.
