The "digital twin of Earth's climate" developed by NVIDIA is a groundbreaking component of Earth-2 initiative. It will enable meteorologists to simulate and graphically depict worldwide weather conditions with unparalleled precision.

Clients can access this digital twin through an API, allowing them to create powerful emulations and accelerate the development of high-resolution interactive models. These models can encompass a wide range of elements, from the global atmosphere and local cloud formations to the dynamics of typhoons and turbulence.

NVIDIA is confident that this digital twin will enhance early warning systems for natural disasters and significantly improve the accuracy of weather forecasts. The company claims its new platform can generate predicted images 1000 times faster than current models, while being 3000 times more energy-efficient, thanks to the CorrDiff generative AI technology.

Governments around the world intend to utilize this digital twin to enhance their modeling of extreme weather events. For instance, Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau plans to implement the platform for precise typhoon location forecasting. Similarly, The Weather Company will leverage this tool to visualize the impact of weather patterns on the Earth.

The Destination Earth (DestinE) model will employ artificial intelligence, data analytics, and other advanced applications.

A powerful supercomputer will integrate these digital twins of the Earth as numerical models, enabling forecasts of weather, climate, ocean currents, food and water supplies, and human impact on the environment. By 2025, the scientists hope to have four or five of these digital Earth twins operational.
