Atlus, the studio known for the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series, has announced their new JRPG Metaphor: ReFantasio. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S this fall, on October 11, 2024. This is the studio's first game using Unreal Engine 5, so expect impressive graphics and special effects.
Metaphor: ReFantasio takes place in a universe where elements of modernity and fantasy are intertwined. The story follows a group of high school students who are transported to a magical world where they must confront their own inner conflicts, manifested as palaces and shadows. Gauntlet Runners, machines that allow the protagonists to explore the environment and complete tasks, play a key role in the story.
The developers promise a deep plot, well-developed characters, and stylish graphics inspired by the works of artist Shigenori Soejima, known for the Persona series. Metaphor: ReFantasio's gameplay includes forming your own squad, turn-based battles, and the division of action into days of the week. In addition to battles, players will be able to spend time with their companions, strengthening bonds and uncovering their stories.
