The creators of the Lovecraftian horror shooter have unveiled new gameplay footage immersing viewers in the game's dark universe. The protagonist is John Lorne, a World War I veteran and member of the Royal Geographical Society whose occult research led to infection by a mysterious parasite.

The story transports Lorne to the Arctic wasteland in search of a missing expedition, where ancient horrors and encroaching madness await. The teaser showcases chilling locations: snow-capped cliffs with overhanging ice formations, a ship graveyard frozen in permafrost, dark caves with ancient ruins, and abandoned villages with grim histories.

Among the enemies glimpsed are fanatical cultists in tattered robes and a biomorphic monster of indeterminate form. The hero's arsenal includes a trusty revolver, a rifle engraved with occult symbols, and a mysterious syringe filled with pulsating green liquid of unknown purpose.

Developers confirmed the project is progressing on schedule, with key mechanics like the "escalating madness" system and parasite interaction to be revealed on May 6. Decadent is slated for release this year on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series platforms.
