Saber Interactive has shared new insights into the development of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 in their latest April update. The team first recapped the mid-April launch of the Trygon update, which introduced a new operation, a boss fight, and various gameplay improvements. Additionally, hotfix 7.2 was deployed to address recent online connectivity issues reported by the community.

Designed for both solo and cooperative play, the mode will support teams of up to three players, with optional bots. Players will face escalating waves of enemies, including Tyranids and Chaos cultists, promising a high-intensity survival challenge.

A teaser image was shown for a new map set on the planet Kadaku. However, both the release date and final name of the mode are being kept under wraps for now.

Looking ahead, Saber confirmed that update 8.0 is the next major release on the horizon. As with previous patches, players will be invited to participate in a beta test before its public rollout. This update will feature Horde mode, new DLCs, and adjustments to the highest difficulty tier — changes inspired by community suggestions.

While Space Marine 2 launched in September 2024 and surpassed five million players, the developers have no plans to abandon support for the sequel, even as work begins on the third game in the series.
