Games from Hazelight remain quite unique in the industry. The feature where only one player needs to purchase the game while two people can play together hasn’t become widely adopted, allowing Hazelight to carve out a niche for itself. The only major drawback in the studio’s previous games was the lack of crossplay—something that seemed like a natural fit for their co-op concept.
Fortunately, Split Fiction will have crossplay, and the developers have now officially confirmed it. Once again, the Friend’s Pass system will be in place, meaning only one copy of the game is required for two players, though both will need an EA account.
Additionally, Hazelight has announced a demo version of the game, allowing players to try it out together. Progress from the demo can be carried over to the full version.
Split Fiction promises to take players through a variety of different settings, but at its core, it will focus on simple yet deep human relationships. The game is set to launch soon—on March 6—and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
